Down on the farm June 6: Midwest League All-Stars announced

Andrew Toles is an All-Star Game starter in large part thanks to his base stealing - Jim Donten

It seems like the entire Hot Rods roster was selected

Three Hot Rods will be in the starting lineup: catcher Luke Maile, infielder Leonardo Reginatto and outfielder Andrew Toles. Two more hitters will come off the bench, and those are infielder Tommy Coyle and third baseman Tyler Goeddel. Four pitchers round out the contingency, and they're Taylor Guerrieri, Jeff Ames, Reinaldo Lopez and Dylan Floro.

Class-A Advanced Charlotte Stone Crabs (26-31) ***Featured game of the day***

Despite the bullpen's best efforts to make the game interesting, Charlotte came out on top Wednesday 7-4. Darren Oliver shut the Stone Crabs down in the first inning, and in the bottom half, Ryan Carpenter allowed a solo home run to put Charlotte in a 1-0 hole. When the actual high-A pitching came into the game, Charlotte scored six of the next seven runs to take a commanding lead. In a three run third inning, the Stone Crabs scored a run on a fielding error and then added two more on doubles by Drew Vettleson and Hector Guevara. It was a very productive game for the two through four hitters with Jake Hager, Kes Carter, Willie Argo and Vettleson each picking up two hits. Carpenter allowed two runs on six hits and two walks in 5.2 innings of work with seven strikeouts.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (38-22)

Durham was shut down by top prospect Gerrit Cole in their 1-0 loss to Indianapolis. The former first overall pick only struck out three batters, but he efficiently worked through seven scoreless innings, allowing only three hits and walking one. J.D. Martin was up to the task of equaling Cole, but a fourth inning unearned run, thanks to an error committed by Martin himself, was the difference. After hitting Josh Harrison to start the inning, Martin threw away a pickoff attempt that allowed Harrison to move up to third base. Felix Pie doubled him home for the only run of the game. No Bull reached base more than once, and all five hits were only singles. Wil Myers made four outs but did not strike out.

Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (30-28)

A three run seventh inning propelled Montgomery to a 4-2 win over Pensacola in game one. After Merrill Kelly allowed two runs in the seventh inning to put the Biscuits down 2-1, Mark Thomas hit a triple to score two and came home to score on a Kevin Kiermaier sac fly. Thomas had previously gotten Montgomery on the board in the third inning with a solo home run, his second of the season. Aside from the rocky seventh inning, Kelly was solid, allowing just the two runs on on five hits and two walks while striking out three. In addition to his sac fly, Kiermaier reached base twice, as did Keith Castillo.

Game two was postponed.

Class A Bowling Green Hot Rods (30-28)

Blake Snell stumbled again in Bowling Green's 5-3 loss to Dayton. Although he only walked one compared to six in his last start, Snell still did not last very long, only getting through 3.2 innings. He allowed four runs, three earned, on four hits with two strikeouts. The Hot Rods wouldn't score until the fifth inning, already in a 4-0 hole, when they got two runs with only one hit. Two walks to start the inning followed by a flyout and sac fly ended Dayton's shutout bid, and Leonardo Reginatto's two out single scored Ryan Dunn after he moved to second in a wild pitch. All-Stars Reginatto and Andrew Toles each had two hits, and Toles stole his 34th base. Rays Prospects comment section favorite Matt Spann made his 2013 debut and allowed an unearned run in 3.1 innings.

Star of the day- Bowling Green's roster, most of which reached the All-Star Game.

Goat of the day- Blake Snell is pretty inconsistent, so outings like this aren't unexpected.
