Here's a question.... What are the Tampa Bay Rays?
Point being after the 2007 season they erased DEVIL from the name. Now they are a "Ray of light"
It is all over Tropicana field: the walls, the jumbo-tron, the tickets and now even the HATS. From articles around it states Sternberg wants it to be a "...a beacon of light that radiates throughout Tampa Bay, and across the entire state of Florida”... That's cool and all but there is still a Rays touch tank in center field. I think if you ask a regular baseball fan (out of state or even in the Bay area) they would have a tough time narrowing what they are.
Using both is GREAT but don't leave the stingray out! It's not even on the alternate jerseys! I mean the sunburst is everywhere! Even on the turf in center field of the Trop.
There is still a Sting Ray patch on the home and away uniforms but is considered more as a recognition to their past.
But it seems the organization wants to avoid it as much as possible.
I would like to see more of the Sting Ray! The Stingray was such a unique thing in baseball. Do you? The famous ocean walkway to the rotunda with stingrays support that....Imagine a stingray hat? Or even warm-up shirts or jackets? That would look pretty cool.
