Down on the farm July 3: Rays sign Stanek

33 of the team's 41 picks have signed - Bruce Thorson-US PRESSWIRE

Three top Rays picks were also in action

Baseball America reports it was only for slot value too which surprises me. They still have a few hundred thousand to play around with to sign any of their remaining eight unsigned picks, including sixth rounder Stephen Woods.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (53-33)

Durham survived a late Charlotte rally to beat the Knights 6-5 in 10 innings. After three runs were charged to Steve Geltz to tie the game at five in the seventh, the Bulls pushed the winning run across in the 10th on a Leslie Anderson single to score pinch runner Tim Beckham from third. Earlier in the game, Anderson hit a solo home run, his 11th of the year. Before the Knights tied the game in the seventh, Shelley Duncan also homered, a two run shot that extended the Bulls' lead to 5-2. The poor effort from the bullpen negated another solid start from Merrill Kelly who allowed two runs in six innings on four hits and three walks with four strikeouts. Vince Belnome reached base four more times with two singles and a pair of walks, and Cole Figueroa got on base three times.

Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (7-7)

Montgomery made a late comeback to force extra innings but never lead in a 13 inning, 4-3 loss to Tennessee. Down 3-0 in the eighth, Keith Castillo started the comeback with a two run double that scored Todd Glaesmann and Hector Guevara. A two out rally without recording a hit allowed the Biscuits to tie it in the ninth. Kevin Kiermaier and advanced to second on a wild pitch before coming around to score on a fielding error on a ball put in play by Mikie Mahtook. That would be their last baserunner of the night though as the Smokies retired 12 straight Biscuits in extra innings while winning the game on a Christian Villanueva RBI double. Victor Mateo started and earned the bare minimum quality start despite allowing two home runs. He allowed three runs on three hits and three walks in six innings with three strikeouts. Mahtook and Castillo each had two hits.

Class-A Advanced Charlotte Stone Crabs (7-5)

Charlotte was off.

Class A Bowling Green Hot Rods (8-4)

Bowling Green was rained out.

Short-Season Hudson Valley Renegades (10-6)

Hudson Valley's offense was stagnant again in a 6-2 loss to Aberdeen. After a 9-0 win Saturday, the Renegades have only scored three runs over the last three games. Aberdeen won the game in a three run fourth inning that featured two home runs against Jordan Harrison. He still recovered to throw the bare minimum quality start, striking out six and walking just one with four hits. Jaime Schultz would later allow a few insurance runs to score. Ariel Soriano had a two hit game and stole a base. Renegades batters only had six hits, walked just once and struck out 11 times.

Rookie Princeton Rays (4-7)

Princeton was off.

Rookie Gulf Coast League Rays (3-5)

The first game of the doubleheader was suspended. When the game becomes official, Nick Ciuffo and Thomas Milone will have officially made their pro debuts, and Riley Unroe will be credited with his first pro home run.

Game two of the doubleheader was postponed.
