The Tampa Bay Rays (64-44) are headed into August coming off their best month in club history. Tampa went 21-5 in July. It was the third best July in major-league history for any team. The month of July was amazing for Tampa due to pitching. The Rays are still top ten in most offensive categories as this offense has proved to be a motor. But what really turned around in July was the starting pitching staff. Tampa Bay had 7 complete games in the month by their starters. The Rays did everything they had to do and more in gaining major ground in the East. The Rays still have not lost a series going back to June 19th but had won ten straight series before splitting the series with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday. Tampa Bay now welcomes in the San Francisco Giants (47-59) to Tropicana Field for a three-game series this weekend starting on Friday.
