Don't be boring, Dustin Ackley

Otto Greule Jr

Last night, Dustin Ackley made a spectacular play to rob a homerun from beyond the wall, then walked away with a gentle nod to the mound. Pretty cool attitude.

In this moment, his teammates celebrate, particularly the pitcher he'd spared. Perhaps that makes up for it?

Baseball can be a very boring game, particularly in low scoring matches without much flash defensively. For the benefit of the people in the stands, get excited next time huh?

I think there's much to be said about getting amped when something great happens. We remember the celebrations of key games, David Price fist pumps on the mound, Evan Longoria, Dan Johnson, or Jose Lobaton arms outstretched, but I want some celebrating in-game.

If Kiermaier laserbeams to third to nail the runner, get excited. If Odorizzi strikes out the side, jump up and down. If Desmond Jennings lays out, cheer him on from the field. It's a 162 game grind, and players like to keep it cool as to not showboat, so it seems. I don't care, make a show of it. This is entertainment, it's ok to celebrate.

Just an opinion.
