The Tampa Bay Rays will take on the Minnesota Twins for the 5th time this spring as they’ll head to Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers. The Rays and Twins still have another meetup on Thursday, but back in Port Charlotte.
So far this spring, the Rays are 2-2 against the Twins, while they have a spring record of 12-15-3, while the Twins have a record of 14-13-2.
Going to the mound for the Rays will be Chris Archer, who will be making his last start before Opening Day on Sunday. Austin Pruitt, Chase Whitley, and Danny Farquhar are also slated to throw for the Rays.
Behind the plate for his first major league spring training game with the Rays will be Derek Norris (he’s 0-10 in minor league games thus far). Meanwhile, in the outfield from left to right will be Mallex Smith, Kevin Kiermaier, and Shane Peterson.
Nick Franklin was originally supposed to start in right field, but was scratched due to illness.
In the infield from left to right will be Kevin Padlo, Daniel Robertson, Brad Miller and Logan Morrison, while Rickie Weeks will take the DH spot.
The game will be carried by Fox Sports Sun at 1pm.
