Wow, That Deal Would've Sucked
Per Roger Mooney:
Oh I'm sure they would've been willing all right, that would've been an absolutely awful deal for the Rays. We of course assumed that Marmol and Cedeno were involved and I wouldn't even do that after strongly considering things, but man, a 27 year old starter without ace material, a poor fielding infielder with bust in his blood, and a prospect? Ew.

Don't misunderstand. I am a big supporter of Bonds and think the criticisms of him are sanctimonious nonsense. But I wonder if the Rays would want the problem of handling the adverse publicity even if balanced by some approval of opening the purse strings.
Re: Probably not
I also like the idea of considering former starters (Clement, Colon, Armas) as possible bullpen arms.
My hope
That being said, I wouldn't mind Floyd as our DH, assuming he could stay healthy and wouldn't cost that much.

Re: Wow, That Deal Would've Sucked
The Rays were willing to accept a deal that would send Crawford to Chicago in exchange for Geovany Soto, Ronny Cedeno, Carlos Marmol, Rich Hill, and Alfonso Soriano with the Cubs picking up 90% of Soriano's salary. No word yet as if the Cubs will accept this deal.
Ridiculous.
Re: Wow, That Deal Would've Sucked
Cody(Mt. Vernon, IA): Rumors on a Cubs website have the Cubs trading Rich Hill, Ronny Cedeno, and Erick Patterson for Carl Crawford. As much as I would love to have Crawford on the Cubs that can't possibly be enough for a young player signed to a relatively modest deal can it?
Jim Callis: (2:00 PM ET ) There is some rumbling that the Cubs are trying to put together a package of young players to get Crawford. Rich Hill is a young, established big league starter--just what the Rays need. I still like Ronny Cedeno and think he's the Cubs' best long-term shortstop option--but the Rays are high on Reid Brignac, who's about a year away. Eric Patterson is more of utility guy for me. So while I could easily see Hill being part of this deal, I think the Cubs would have to ante up more to get Crawford.
Josh (Tampa): No way the Rays even talk to the Cubs without Marmol being in the discussion. Do you agree?
Jim Callis: (2:14 PM ET ) Disagree . . . I think starting pitchers are more on their mind. I could see them asking for Rich Hill, Sean Marshall or Sean Gallagher, Billy Petrick and maybe a fourth player.
