Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Cubs Still After Carl

Nick Cafardo says the Cubs are offering a package starting with Rich Hill and Carlos Marmol for Carl Crawford. Excuse me for being a bit more than a skeptic on a potential Cubs / Rays deal for Crawford, but I really don't see it happening.

Keith Law apparently feels the same way I do:

Todd (Ithaca, NY): Carl Crawford to the Cubs for Rich Hill and two major league ready players . . . as a Cubs fan, should I be leery about this rumor?
Keith Law: (1:17 PM ET ) It's a load of crap. So yeah, I'd be leery.

Steve (Tucson, AZ): There has been so many Crawford questions. Does Tampa Bay even have any interest in trading him?
Keith Law: (1:34 PM ET ) Not really. But someone in Chicago made up a trade rumor earlier this week and it has run amok.

Re: Cubs Still After Carl
I was about to complain about the lack of activity today. It was dissappointing after yesterday of checking the comp every ten minutes to debate with everyone.

Calm before the storm
But yes today has been one of our slower days; I'll take some of the blame as I'm working on my BtB column instead of searching for stuff to post.

Re: Calm before the storm
Guess we know where your priorites are...I have been looking, there is not much to going on. I don't care about Arod, and we have beat this Crawford to the cubs deal to death. The more I think about it, I am not sure HIll would be good in the AL East. I wanted a trade to happen but it would have to be the right one, and I keep thinking Hill would not do as well here.

Eh
Still averaging around 20 posts a week, I guess if we wanted we could average around 40 posts per week, but our amount of average content is pretty decent compared to other top 30 blogs.

Re: Eh
We are definitley more active than some. Plus I like the fact that it is still quite small cause you are debating with the same people everytime. It makes it more fun.

Re: Eh
Believe it or not at times last off-season / early this year we were the most heavily visited AL East SBN blog and we hope we can reach that status again.

Re: Cubs Still After Carl
question for those "in the know" - are we actively shopping carl?  are teams coming to us or did we put him on the block?

Re: Cubs Still After Carl
I am not in the know but from everything I have read, and from one rather third hand source, my understanding is that the Rays have not offered Crawford in a trade. In fact, there is no evidence they have actually talked to anyone about dealing him. The Cubs story began by saying that Chicago was trying to put together a package for him. That has nothing to do with the Rays, only with their hope they might approach TB with a tempting offer, something that has not happened yet.
