2009 Free Agents List
It's a bit nuts to start looking this far ahead, but Tim Dierkes over at MLBTR posted the preliminary list, and frankly it's fun to form meaningless wishlists.
Very few stand out to me, but I've always been a Juan Cruz fan, he could be an interesting plug in for the bullpen if / when Al Reyes retires or signs on elsewhere.
SBN doesn't offer a Lightning blog - and some of you aren't fans - but congratulations to Karri Ramo netting his first NHL win last night in net - we really could use some defensive help, and naturally that starts with the goalie; let's just hope he have a Ryan Miller on our hands.
Also, check out the RotoJunkie free guide preview. Good stuff in their guides, trust me.

off topic...
If this doesn't go through, we can kiss our Rays goodbye. We have ALL dreamed of a waterfront stadium, MLB will never let us host an ALL STAR game in the current facility. Everyone that is worried about the city with no money can almost be guaranteed that MLB will give us the ALL Star game within 2 or 3 years of that park opening. I am an out-of-towner that is already making vacation plans for the grand opening of the new park. I STRONGLY URGE all of you that are citizens and CAN vote for this next year, that they get out there and do it, or I am getting the idea that this will fail...
I also strongly urge those that cannnot pay the mortgage on the house and car payments to NOT GET IN OVER YOUR HEAD AND BUY A HOUSE AND CAR YOU CAN TRULY AFFORD AND THEN NOT HAVE THE AUDACITY TO COMPLAIN ABOUT IT. Most peoples dire fanancial situation is a "you" problem and should not be used in any other context of building new facilities. I'll get off my soapbox...now

Re: off topic...
I highly doubt that - Stu seems genuine about staying here and from what I've interacted with him he's not one to be a backstabber.

Vinny for the win!
Poor kid was left out to dry in the thrid and wasnt tested much till then but did a solid job of keeping the soft goals out and never seemed shakey and boy was he confident and made some great decisions without second guessing himself on things like playing the puck, charging the puck and sliding out to cut the angel and make some big saves.. The current two we had never played like that and would seem to panic in the net and play too safe.
We have to do something about the 3rd period because we can't expect the kid to play that out of his mind everynight. The team was out shot 4 to 14 and out chanced the whole period. I know injuries are hurting us but they have to find a way to inject some energy into that last period because all season we have been flat. Maybe its a mental thing with the young D thinking too much about not letting any goals in and throwing their game off?
I hope they can solve the problem before its too late.
