The Biscuits
Had a little technical difficulty last night and ended up losing the post due to my own error, so sorry for the day delay.
Catcher John Jaso leads the team with his .935 OPS and .423 OBP, Evan Longoria has 17 homers and a line of .299/.398/.531, other than those two only one other Biscuit has an OPS above .750, that being center fielder and superb writer Fernando Perez, who boasts 16 stolen bases and a .403 OBP. Jason Pridie is of course with Durham now, and it should be mentioned first baseman Chris Nowak is having a solid season; .285/.381/.365, otherwise disappointment from Reid Brignac's .693 OPS reigns supreme.
Pitching wise Chris Mason should be in Durham, 94 innings, 80 hits, 8 Ks/9, 3.35 K:BB, really Mason has nothing left to prove at AA. Nor do Brian Henderson and Dale Thayer; both relievers, Henderson projects as a LOOGY, but that's not stopping him from a .220 BAA, Thayer's been trapped in AA for a while now, it's time for the organization to let him move up and see if he's legit or just a career AA player.
We'll finish the minor leagues with Durham tomorrow night.

Re: The Biscuits
Same with Perez. I wasn't particularly enamored with him, but if he can shoot up through the system and continue to put himself on base at that rate, he will be valuable. Someone with that much speed is a threat everytime they reach base, even if the threat is only implied in some cases. Hopefully he can keep it up.
This has been an absolutely terrible year from Brignac. I don't know what his problem is, but his ticket is not the glove so he needs to get in gear offensively.
Good to see Chris Mason's ERA reflect his peripherals. I thought he was a bit screwed playing in the California League last year. His peripherals were all excellent, but the 5 ERA was really a blight on his record. Especially if you don't understand the context of pitching in the California League. I'm glad that his ERA is finally reflecting how well he has pitched.
If you're Brian Henderson, how frustrated do you have to be? I'm not sure why he keeps getting passed over, but there really is no excuse at all. This is his fourth year in Montgomery, good lord. Even if he is only a LOOGY, he needs to have been promoted at least two years ago. His ERA right now is 3.29, in 2006 it was 2.16, in 2005 it was 3.60, and in 2004 it was 2.91. I see no reason whatsoever to possibly defend his having been kept in Montgomery this long. Absolutely none. He is now 25 years old, how do you cope with having 80% of your minor league career spent at a level which you mastered long ago? It's an endless stagnation. That must be really depressing. No reason at all for him to have been slowed up this much, this is insane.
