Congrats Baltimore, you avoided the cellar somehow, again. They won, we lost, we're picking first again next year. If Patrick has his way, and believe me when I say he does, the guy wanted David Price before most of the fan base knew who the hell he was, we'll be taking Pedro Alvarez next June, coverage will be upcoming on Alvarez, Justin Smoak, and a slew of arms that could challenge for the top pick, until then, here's El Toro:

Turns out there's a possiblity of tying with Pittsburgh for the #1 pick, but we're guaranteed last place in the AL East, may as well take the worst record in baseball again for the draft pick.

I'll have a profile on Pedro Alvarez tomorrow, my favorite non-playing tidbit thus far? His other nickname is El Matatan, per Urban Dictionary that means, "Someone who has is of respect and everyone looks up to as being the man."

I could have swore I heard the Rays hope they would never draft #1 overall again?! Correct me, but I could have read those words quoted from Friedman. It may have came from Friedman when they were drafting Price but geez!

Here is a happy thing for the day: I won the scratch of promotion thing at the Rays game "Shirts off our backs" Some Red sox fan gave me 4 tickets thinking they were all game tickets and one won me a free jersey from Joel Guzman. It was cool I got to go on the field after the game and meet him.

Couldn't the Rays still tie all three? INCLUDING The O's for 4th place?

Not likely. But it is still possible, right?

Why can the Rays tie Pitt and not KC and Baltimore?

But they have the series advantage, therefore giving them the nod.

I have looked everywhere for tie-breaker rules, and have never seen that.

How would you break a tie-breaker between an AL team and an NL team that did not play in interleague?

I would be surprised if that was the tie-breaker.

I thought MLB broke tie breakers with a coin flip for the first round and then alternated the teams in subsequent rounds. I could be wrong.

my point was: why would they have more than one type of tie-breaker?

I have never heard of baseball using head-to-head as a tie-breaker.

The tie breaker is the worst record of the previous year which we have. We have locked up the No.1 pick so here comes Pedro!! If you want to read the article about the tiebreakers there is a good one at ESPN with the link to Baseball
