Four Hours Means Four Wins

That game took forever, but the Rays win 10-9 over the Detroit Tigers. Matt Garza wasn't too grand (5 BR in 1.2 IP), nor was Chad Orvella, or even Jake McGee (3 BB in 1 IP) and Chris Mason, but somehow the Rays won a slugfest 10-9.

Willy Aybar went 2-3 with two runs batted in, Andy Cannizaro added a two run homerun (ed note: SUCCESS!) and Eric Hinske scored the game winning run thanks to a Hector Gimenez RBI double. Ben Zobrist also walked twice and of the projected regulars only B.J. Upton didn't reach base.

Ive never been to a spring training game.. do you have info on the field? a website? where I can view the prices and address.

It's a fine field to see a ball game. If you can i say make a day of it, go to the Pier, maybe eat @ Baywalk... have a blast... hell if you have a boat you can dock your boat and just walk from the pier... that is something different to do...

Just back from the game...

and here are some observations from the best place to watch a spring training game in either FL or AZ, Joker Marchant Stadium:

Aki looks like he's been playing second for years, but saw only one pitch in each of his first two abs
Orvella was loading the strike zone with dead pitches, see you on waivers.
Gomes had three very good at-bats, working the count and getting his pitch
Garza looked like he was trying too hard
CC hit two balls to the opposite field that would have been out at the Trop. He barely hit either of those as well. He could very easily hit 20+ HRs this season if he stays consistent
Aybar was rather unimpressive in the field
Zobrist at the plate today reminded me a little of John Olderud and how he approached each at-bat.
Perez needs a haircut

Good game as the imports from Michigan could barely take 5 innings before they headed for the shade. The poor red-headed girl sitting next to me will probably be confined to her rental condo for the next few days. One more observation, every car in the handicap parking spaces had a Michigan license plate.

I live in Lakeland so it's only about 15 mins to get there. If you've never caught a game at Joker Marchant you're cheating yourself out of a great experience.
