Star players rarely make Good managers

I have heard that Phillies great Mike Schmidt used his connections, and landed an interview with the Devil Rays for their manager opening.

Rarely do the players with the god given skills know how to get inside the head of these players. The talent usually comes pretty easy for them, most of the time they did not have to work as hard on their game.

In this case, Schmidt is a great no doubt. But, he had been out of the game a while except for his short excursion at Jack Russell stadium in Clearwater.

There are certainly alot more deserving candidates that I hope the Rays brass consider before even counting ol Mike as a serious candidate.
