In the third round of the 2003 draft, the year the they drafted Delmon Young with the first overall pick, they drafted a kid who pitched at Buchholz High in Gainesville Florida. His name is Andrew Miller. He also had a scholarship to play baseball at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. It turned out the DRays were unable to sign him, and has became a star college pitcher in the ACC for the Carolina Tarheels. Bryan Smith of WTNY has predicted him as the #1 overall for the 2006 draft. Today, when the Heels open up their season, they will have Andrew Miller on the mound.

A the DRays prepare for the 2005 draft, I hope they have pitching on the mind. Getting another stud college pitcher to go along side Kazmir and Niemann would be a good strategy. Rocc Says has a writeup on the early 2005 top draft candidates.
