Two hanging sliders put a damper on what was otherwise an excellent first start for Casey Fossum. Seven strikeouts to only two walks in five innings tonight, pulled after 83 pitches since he had been coming out of the bullpen all season. He'll probably have trouble going more than seven innings most of the time since he does throw a fair amount of balls, though he doesn't walk a large number of batters. Still, once he gets his pitch count limit removed he could give the Rays some nice starts. He obviously can't be giving up two home runs all the time but overall I was quite happy with what I saw.
