MLB says we now have a 1-2 punch. We have been saying for several seasons now that Carl Crawford is not a leadoff hitter. The question has always remained where does he hit. He is a free swinger, with not much plate discipline which accounts for the low 300s OBP over the course of his career.
Its still questionable to me if he makes a good number 2 hitter. I would not mind him being ninth hitter. But, that takes away at bats from him. So, I guess the two hole is the best spot for him.
The thing is why did it take going on three seasons to realize this. Just like the bullpen, this should have been covered alot earlier. Lou is old school.
