Hammel Throws a No-No

On a lighter note, congratulations to Jason Hammel of the Durham Bulls, who tossed 8.1 no hit innings, while Juan Salas went the final 2/3 of the ninth to clinch the no hitter. Hammel had a perfect game going through the top of the sixth, when a walk dashed that hope. Durham would allow six baserunners overall on the day. Two walks, two hit batters, and two errors caused this, and a wild pitch scored a run, however it is clearly the highlight of the year for Hammel, who had struggled in posting a high 4 ERA going into the game. So congratulations to Jason Hammel on his great feat, we hope this is but one of many great things he will do for this organization for years to come.
