I'm sitting in on Clay Davenport's BP chat and here's the most recent exchange:
Ben (Baltimore): talk to me about the Orioles in 2009. Gut the team today and compete in two years?
Clay Davenport: You think the yanks and Sox will be gone in two years? Or Tampa?
There's not enough in the system to rebuild from within in two years. Their best prospects had disappointing seasons - erbe showed no signs of gaining control, Rowell was hurt much of the year. I'm not at all sure Tejada can keep playing shortstop.
Dont' gut the team; gut the management.
Wait, did we just get included with the A.L. East superpowers? I may cry.
