Thayer The Choice?

Marc Topkin is reporting that the Rays are considering calling long-time AA arm Dale Thayer up to the bullpen. Thayer was of course acquired in the Russ Branyan trade, and for the Pads and Rays has been very successful at the AA level, posting an ERA less than 3.7 at every level from A to (a very short stint) at AAA. In the Rays' final exhibition with the Mets Thayer saw an inning of action, allowing one hit, no runs, and striking one out.

Also note Scott Kazmir's absence from the probable pitchers' page, we can only figure it to be one of three things; injury, error, or move to the pen.

Likely error...
