Contreras, Vazquez: Rays Targets?

Our good friend Tim Dierkes over at MLB Trade Rumors found this nugget in the most recent Ken Rosenthal piece:

Rosenthal says Kenny Williams has talked to roughly 20 teams about his starting pitchers in one way or another.  Interestingly, he confirms the recent radio rumor that the D-Rays inquired about Buehrle.  Williams has also discussed Jose Contreras and Javier Vazquez with Tampa Bay.  I'll say it again: the Devil Rays should be contenders in 2008.

From the article:

Williams, for example, has talked with the Devil Rays about his available starting pitchers — Buehrle, Contreras and right-hander Javier Vazquez. In each case, the Devil Rays could either flip the pitcher they acquired or retain him as a veteran anchor, presumably with the White Sox including significant money in the trade.

And things just got interesting again with less than four weeks until the trade deadline...
