The Rocky Mountain News is reporting the Rays and Rocks were close to making a move that would've sent Wheeler to the Rockies for Jeff Baker and more. Baker's a 26 year old third baseman who put up great minor league numbers, but those have yet to fully transfer to the majors.
Needless to say, without knowing what the 'and more' part of the deal was, I'm pretty happy at this no-deal.
