SC Raysfan brought it up earlier, here's what Marc Lancaster posted on his blog:
Left-hander James Houser, a Sarasota native who was the Rays' second-round pick in the 2003 draft, was scratched from his scheduled start for Montgomery Friday night under strange circumstances. Rays executive vice president Andrew Friedman would not comment on the matter except to say an announcement would be forthcoming tomorrow.
The Montgomery Advertiser reported on its blog that Houser had a long, closed-door meeting following Wednesday's game with Biscuits manager Billy Gardner, pitching coach Neil Allen and minor-league field coordinator Jim Hoff. Gardner told the Advertiser Friday that "there's an announcement coming out of Tampa regarding that situation."
Tony Peguero got the start for Montgomery in Houser's place.
According to the Advertiser's Stacy Long, Houser is in uniform and in the dugout tonight.
Who knows what's going on...
