Crawford Out Until at Least Friday, Possibly Longer

Marc Topkin of the St. Petersburg Times reports that Devil Rays LF Carl Crawford's left groin strain will cause him to miss this week's three game set in Anaheim, and possibly longer depending on how he feels on Thursday. The Rays, who play a three game set in Anaheim through Wednesday before an off day on Thursday, play a weekend set at home against Boston starting Friday. The initial game of that Red Sox series is the first possible game that Crawford said he might play in, though his status for the remainder of the season is entirely unclear. Topkin speculates that the Rays may call up either Jason Pridie or Justin Ruggiano from Durham to fill the void, although that may be dependant on how long the Rays see Crawford being sidelined for.
