Former Rays pitcher Shawn Camp signed a Minor-league deal with the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday, with a Spring Training invite. Camp, who is a sinker-ball pitcher, get shelled last year as a member of the Rays much-maligned relief group. The problem was, with not really many other options, Camp was not used correctly. Due to his rubber arm, Maddon continually trotted Camp out every night despite of the situation surrounding the decision.
With Camp's sinker, he needs to be used in ground ball situations only. I still feel he could possibly be effective in this role if he is utilized correctly, however it is most likely that he will just get hammered.
