General Statistics:
All 38 pitchers and catchers worked out for a third straight day.
60 of the 61 players invited to camp are expected at tomorrow's full squad workout, with the only exception being Aki Iwamura.
Joe Maddon on Today's workouts:
“It went really good. Again, we’re not pushing too hard at this point. Just making sure that the pitchers get their throwing in. The pfp (pitchers fielding practice) work is being done, conditioning is getting done, etc."
On who stood out today:
“Everybody comes into camp in pretty good shape these days. They all look good. Percy (Troy Percival) threw today a little bit off the mound and actually looked pretty good. That’s the one guy I was curious to see more than anybody coming off of his surgery. But other than that, pretty normal stuff.”
On Gabe Kapler:
“He has a real flat swing and he really backspins the ball when he hits it. I remember when he first came up with Detroit, that’s when I first saw him and I was impressed then too. He was just a strong person. He’s a wonderful man and I’m so glad he’s a part of our group.”
On B.J. Upton:
“We don’t know what the timeline is yet. He is making great progress. I spoke to him yesterday and he’s really jacked up about getting going. You can just see in his face how much he’s grown over one year so I’m just as excited as he is.”
