3/21/09 GDT: Rays @ Orioles; Andy Sonnanstine & David Price to Pitch

UPDATE: Today's game had been rained out.

FORT LAUDERDALE—The sun is out for the first time in three hours, but it’s all for naught.

Today’s game has been rained out, with the two downpours earlier overwhelming the drainage system here. There’s standing water all over the field and at least a foot of water in the visitors’ dugout.--Rays Report

Game Time: 1:05 PM

TV/Radio: 620 WDAE

Pitchers: RH Andy Sonnanstine, LH David Price

Things to watch: Matt Joyce makes his "major league" debut for the Rays. Up to this point, Joyce has played in just two minor league spring games after battling tendinitis in his leg for most of the spring. Otherwise the lineup is pretty unspectacular with Ben Zobrist hitting clean-up and his righteous brother, Gabe Gross behind him.

On the mound we have Andy Sonnanstine and David Price. Sonny has had an uneventful spring which is good. There seems to be a heavy emphasis on Rays starters throwing change-ups. Sonny has been working all spring to make his change a plus pitch so look for more of that today.

David Price is technically still in the running for the fifth starters job, but I think we all know the the real deal. It will be very interesting to see how Price's change-up progresses and if he can find his "lost" slider. Also, Matt Wieters is schedule to play today for the Orioles meaning we could see Price v. Wieters at some point in the game.
