Unpleasant physical effects following the heavy use of alcohol.
A letdown, as after a period of excitement.
A vestige; a holdover: hangovers from prewar legislation.
Thanks to our recent play I have been experiencing more of #1. The bats have been showcasing a lot of #2. I know from my experience the best cure for one is a nice, spicy Bloody Mary. Something about pummeling a couple of these Red drinks always makes me feel better. I'm not sure if it's the spicy Offensive flavor, or the smooth vodka Hitting me perfectly, or maybe it's the vegetables building up the Defense mechanisms in my body. Either way I feel like a new man, almost as if, everything is about to go right for me for the indefinite future.
Anyways, below you will find the record for each World Series participant in their first 20 games the following year.

As you can see we are in elite company, matching the start by the 2001 Mets and only being surpassed by the 1998 stripped down Marlins. Of course this doesn't mean all that much as far as predictive power, but it does show that the average record through 20 games for World Series teams is better than ours. Time to fix us a cocktail and get ready for work as the holes we dig today are harder to fill in tomorrow.
