Relative to league average, our team OPS against righties is 4% better and our team OPS against lefties is 24% better. Matt Joyce is a lefty who figures to hit quite a bit better than Gabe Gross, and probably defend a touch worse. I'm not saying it's time to make a switch, or suggesting Gross is the problem, but at some point Joyce is going to force his way onto this team. Whether that comes at Gross or Kapler's expense, well, there's little choice there, even if it means keeping another lefty bat on the bench.
