Matt Silverman, Andrew Friedman and Joe Maddon will make a special announcement today during a 1:30 conference call. While the press release doesn't specifiy what the announcement is, I think we all have a pretty good idea that this will be the official Joe Maddon contract extension press conference. In a story that broke last week, Maddon is expected to sign a three year extension with the Rays that will take him through the 2012 season. However, neither side would confirm a deal last week. We will have more later.
