Rays Lose to Phillies 4-3; Davis, Blalock to be on Opening Day Roster?

Spring training, you can be done already.  You're like the stocking on Christmas morning: a fun prelude to the main event, but it's not what anyone looks forward all year long.  Fourteen days left?  I don't know if I'll be able to make it...

Anyway, there's not too much in the way of news from the game today.  Longoria went 1-3 with an RBI double, while Ruggiano the Reborn went 2-3 with a walk. Joyce started the game at DH and went 1-5 with a double.

On the pitching side, Garza went 5.2 innings and allowed three home runs and a bunch of hits, but had great K:BB (4:0) and groundball to flyball (9:4) ratios.  He's getting his work in and looking good overall, so I wouldn't make much over the home runs. Benoit also looked good (1.1 IP, 1 K) and Balfour walked two and allowed one hit in 1.2 innings of work.

In more interesting news, the Tampa Tribune is reporting that Maddon will name the Rays' fifth starter tomorrow.  According to them, "Probably going to be rookie Wade Davis with Sonnanstine to 'pen to fill in for J.P. Howell."  Nothing too surprising there, although it would mean the Rays aren't going to attempt and delay Davis' arbitration clock another year.  The Tribune also reported that according to Maddon, Blalock has  "probably raised questions that I did not anticipate in the beginning," making him a potential DH option.
