- Dave Cameron has an article over at FanGraphs this morning explaining the positional adjustment section of WAR, and he uses Ben Zobrist as an example. It's a really great read, and an excellent primer on an important (yet often overlooked) part of WAR.
- Gary Shelton's article from last Friday was actually a very fun read. It's a fair assessment of the Rays going forward, and highlights a lot of reasons why I think many of us are excited about this team. They may have a tough road to hoe over the rest of this season, but the young talent on this roster can make it so exciting to watch.
- Doug Milhoan collected some quotes from around the Rays' minor leagues, highlighting a handful of players and teams. There's a fun quote in there about Matt Moore, and I loved reading the mini scouting report on Lenny Linsky.
- Bradley Woodrum explores what a Casey Kotchman extension could look like over at SB Nation Tampa Bay, and takes a stab at measuring defense-independent hitting over at FanGraphs. The defense-independent stat he creates is basically attempting to analyze what a player should have hit in the past, normalizing for variations in BABIP. It's a cool concept, and there's a fun Google Docs spreadsheet you can mess around with.
