Down On The Farm: June 25

With all seven state-side affiliates in action, the odds of a strong performance in the Rays minor league system are much higher than before. So instead of just Josh Sale's stat line receiving notice, some of the lower level players can catch our attention. Last night, it was Taylor Guerrieri who captured out attention (again), while the Bulls and Biscuits showed some offensive might.

AAA Durham

The Durham Bulls, once again displaying a strong offensive performance, defeated Buffalo 14-10. In a game that amassed a total of 33 hits, the Bulls, behind Luke Scott (2 homeruns) and Stephen Vogt (HR), managed to outscore their opponents in a crazy offensive showing.

AA Montgomery

Like the Bulls, the Montgomery Biscuit's bats pummeled opposing pitchers in their 15-4 win over Mobile. The Biscuits collected 13 hits and 9 walks on the night, with Ryan Garko leading the way with 3 hits. Nick Barnese made his first start of the year with the Biscuits, pitching 4 innings and allowing 2 earned runs.

High-A Port Charlotte

Did not play.... again.

Low-A Bowling Green

Featuring a Josh Sale-less lineup, the Bowling Green Hot Rods dropped a game to West Michigan by the score of 6-1. The Bowling Green offense just couldn't get started, with players like Malm and Hager failing to produce. Meanwhile, Felipe Rivero ran into some trouble, walking 3 batters in his 5 innings and allowing 3 runs, although only one was earned.

Short Season Low-A Hudson Valley

Taylor Guerrieri's excellent game went to waste as the Renegades lost 3-0. Guerrieri went 5 innings, allowing 5 hits, balking home a run (the only run he gave up), and striking out 6 without issuing a walk.

Rookie League Princeton

Princeton came up short on Monday night, losing to Greeneville 5-3. The Princeton Rays mustered only 4 hits on the night while their pitching did solidly, keeping them in the game.

GCL Rays

Did not play.
