The Rays Tank: Goodnight, Pittsburgh

Though it didn't wrap up as desired, the Pittsburgh Pirates were quite the story in the majors this season, allowing the franchise to make their first postseason appearance since 1992 and corralling a bandwagon of fans near and far.

They just couldn't defeat Adam Wainwright and the Cardinals last night, allowing St. Louis to better their record to 8-1 in elimination games since 2011, and advance to the NLCS for the third straight year. The Dodgers will head to St. Louis to kick off the series on Saturday.

One final DS game remains in the postseason picture, with the Athletics hosting the Tigers tonight in Oakland, a rematch of the pitching duel from last Saturday: Justin Verlander vs. Sonny Gray. The winner will head to Boston to kick off the ALCS tomorrow.
