Options were both picked up and declined yesterday. At least one player was released. Ah, the offseason moves have officially started around the league!
While nothing new happened on the Rays behalf yesterday, Bill Chastain of MLB.com highlighted Tampa Bay’s needs and where they sit contract-wise on a number of key players. The acquisitions of James Loney and Yunel Escobar in 2013 were some of the top highlights of last offseason, while the signing of Roberto Hernandez wasn’t exactly the ‘career rejuvenation’ that we’ve seen with so many previous free-agent signings.
