The Tampa Bay Rays take on the Minnesota Twins in their next spring training game today. This is the first of six games the Rays will play against the Twins during spring training this year, tied with the Red Sox for their most against any opponent.
Today's game is noteworthy in that it marks the spring debuts of Chris Archer and Jake Odorizzi, two of the Rays top pitching prospects. Juan Sandoval will also be pitching today, and I'm especially interested to see how he performs; Sandoval is blind in one eye, and was signed by the Rays to a minor league deal after Joel Peralta discovered him this off-season in his hometown baseball league.
Pitchers:
RAYS: RH Chris Archer (start), RH Jake Odorizzi, LH Frank De Los Santos, RH Will Inman, RH Matt Nevarez, LH Jimmy Patterson, RH Juan Sandoval, LH Alex Torres, RH Kirby Yates
TWINS: RH Liam Hendriks (start), LH Glen Perkins, RH Jared Burton, LH Brian Duensing, RH Alex Burnett, RH Casey Fien, RH P.J. Walters
Today's lineup:
