GDT: Rays, Rangers Game 3: Rain delay, lineups and information

The cold front that is moving through Arlington, Tex. has delayed the start of the Rays-Rangers game by at least an hour.

One of the great things about baseball is that a team coming off a couple of tough losses doesn't have long to dwell on the defeats. The every-day schedule allows teams another crack at victory incredibly quickly and even more so with a day game after a night game.

Unfortunately for the Tampa Bay Rays, mother nature is prolonging the misery of two-straight losses at the hands of the Texas Rangers. Thursday's matinee contest has already been delayed at least an hour due to rain that moved through the Arlington, Tex. area overnight, bringing with it near freezing temperatures; a very un-Texas like environment.

That's why domes are better...

When the game eventually gets underway, Third-baseman Evan Longoria will avoid playing the field in the wet and the cold as he is slated to DH today's game. Shelly Duncan will make his first start at first-base, and Kelly Johnson is the lone left-hander in the lineup. Matt Joyce, who hurt his neck attempting a diving catch, Thursday, said he could play today and just suffered a bit of "whip-lash" on the play.

On the mound, two lefties, Rays young-gun Matt Moore and Rangers veteran Derek Holland, will go head-to-head.
