David Price Speeding Way Back to Major Leagues

Price has been a forgotten man the past few weeks; that is changing now.

USA TODAY Sports

In 2012, David Price was incredible, going 20-6 with a 2.56 ERA on his way to the AL Cy Young Award. What did Rays fans expect for an encore?

There was certainly a chance for regression–even though David Price is a great pitcher, it's extremely hard to be that excellent season after season. But no one expected anything like this, with Price getting slammed for a 5.24 ERA in 9 starts before hitting the DL with a triceps strain. Price wants to wipe away those memories, and he's determined to make that happen at the soonest possible second.

After he looked great in his most recent bullpen session, the Rays have expedited David Price's timetable, moving him up to pitch a simulated game on Thursday. If it goes well, he will begin a three-start rehab assignment.

Regardless of how Price pitched before, all of this is getting Rays fans extremely excited to see what Price can do. It's like a top prospect making his ascent to the major leagues, only you know exactly when the big league team will call him up.

With David Price at the top, the often-enigmatic Rays rotation could finally be primed to surge.

Get ready.
