A recap of the minor league action.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (68-40)

Another solid outing for JD Martin and a team-wide offensive effort resulted in a 4-2 Durham win. Martin went six innings, allowing two runs, though only one was earned. Josh Lueke pitched two scoreless innings and Kirby Yates saved his 13th game of the year. Jason Bourgeois hit a double while Cole Figueroa drove two runners home.

Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (53-52)

The Biscuits slim lead was lost in a five run seventh inning that propelled Jacksonville to a 5-1 win over Montgomery. Victor Mateo had pitched six scoreless frames but ran into trouble in the seventh inning, allowing five runs while recording only two outs. Only Robby Price and Robi Estrada reached base more than once for the Biscuits.

Advanced Class-A Charlotte Stone Crabs (48-53)

The Stone Crabs hot offense was the key to their 11-6 victory on Saturday afternoon in Tampa. The Stone Crabs scored five runs in the first inning and never surrendered the lead; the batters combined for twelve hits and four walks. Jeff Malm hit his 11th home run of the year in a two hit effort. Ryan Carpenter, the Crabs starter, was slapped around, giving up seven runs while failing to make it out of the fifth inning. However, Andrew Bellatti pitched three scoreless innings to ensure the victory.

Class-A Bowling Green Hot Rods (61-42)

Jeff Ames' recent struggles continued in the Hot Rods 4-1 defeat. Ames went 5.2 innings and allowed four runs with a 2/2 K/BB rate and a home run surrendered. Joey Rickard had two of the three hits for Bowling Green.

Class-A Short Season Hudson Valley Renegades (23-17)

The Renegades held off a late comeback by Aberdeen to win the game 4-3. Leading 4-0 through five innings, the Renegades allowed a run in the sixth, eight, and ninth innings. Johnny Field was the offensive star for Hudson Valley, going 2-4 with a double.

Rookie Princeton Rays (7-27)

The game was suspended due to rain.

Rookie GCL Rays (14-17)

The game was suspended after only two innings due to weather. The game will be resumed on 08/02/2013 with the GCL Rays in front 2-0.

Star of the Day: Not too many great individual efforts, but Jeff Malm had a nice day.

Goat of the Day: Victor Mateo fell apart in the seventh after pitching well for the previous six innings.
