Pawtucket has been known to play a long game once in a while.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (5-1)

After scoring two runs in the top of the 14th, Kirby Yates survived a scare in Durham's game three 2-0 win. The Bulls were limited to just seven hits, and none of them were actually in the 14th. Kevin Kiermaier reached third base on a three base error by Bryce Brentz, and he came home to score on a Brock Holt throwing error after a Cole Figueroa intentional walk. A walk to Vince Belnome advanced Tim Beckham to second base, and Jason Bourgeois beat out a potential double play ball while Figueroa crossed the plate with the second run. In the bottom half of the inning, a hit batter and back to back walks with two outs loaded the bases, but Yates struck out Brentz to end the game.

Durham used eight pitchers, and starter Matt Buschmann's lack of control could have cost them. He walked five and struck out five and only allowed two hits in 4.2 innings. The eight pitchers combined to strike out 14 Red Sox but also walked 12. In addition to Yates' two and Buschmann's five, Enny Romero worked in relief and walked three in two scoreless innings. Bourgeois and Brandon Guyer each had two hits, and Belnome walked four times. In addition to his late error, Brentz was 0/6 with five strikeouts, including the final out of the game.

Star of the day- Durham's bullpen came up big when Buschmann couldn't give them many innings.

Goat of the day- My intention was to play some old school Metroid tonight, but I had to wait for this game to finish first.
