It's a night game.
Here's a look at the numbers for these two nerds so far:
Player | ERA | IP | H | R | ER | HR | BB | SO | AVG | WHIP | FIP |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Bedard, E | 7.15 | 11.1 | 17 | 9 | 9 | 1 | 5 | 6 | 0.347 | 1.94 | 4.46 |
Ramos, C | 4.00 | 9.0 | 8 | 4 | 4 | 5 | 0.235 | 0.89 | 1.94 | ||
Odorizzi, J | 2.25 | 8.0 | 7 | 2 | 2 | 5 | 5 | 0.226 | 1.50 | 3.67 |
I calculated FIP using a 3.048 constant (that's 2013's constant).
At this point, Ramos is the only one who likes like he's had any degree of control. I don't expect he'd do any better than a 110 FIP- (so... *beep bop boop* 4.38 ERA, assuming league offense remains the same). But these other guys just can't seem to find the zone so far.
That said, if it was a half season we needed from the No. 5 guy, I'd say go Odo and just take the medicine.
Side question: Where's Jeff Niemann these days? Is he still out there in the ether?
