The Tampa Bay Rays are signing RHP Chris Archer to a new six-year, $25 million contract, with two club options on the end of it, according to Fox Sports reporter Ken Rosenthal, who broke the news this morning on twitter.

According to Rosenthal, the deal will cover from 2014 to 2019 with two club options in 2020 and 2021. Despite only 158 innings pitched in his career, Archer has clearly proven to the Rays he's worth the financial commitment. He'll look to build on his impressive rookie season where he finished with a 9-7 record, 3.22 ERA and a third-place finish in the AL Rookie of the Year voting.

Archer will be completing his age 32 season at the end of the contract if the club decides to exercise both options down the road. The Rays are expected to make the official announcement during a noon press conference later today.
