It doesn't feel like it, but the Rays can actually get our of Bridgeport with a series split. I think that would be great given the Grant Balfour insanity, the super-error inning -- the all of it, really.
While we're on the subject of Bridgeport, I feel compelled to discuss some of the eateries in the area:
Taqueria San Jose
This is on Halsted, just a few block from the stadium and right around the corner from my old apartment. They have a chile relleno burrito that will, much like Kurtz deep in the jungle, open your mind.
Nana
Right down the street from San Jose, this is a relatively expensive and uppity joint with all sorts of organic and fancy healthy food. It's good for a date.
Northern City
Proper Beijing-style Chinese cuisine. The staff speaks Mandarin too, which is fun if'n you want to practice your language skills. Their lunch specials are really good, but that also means their dinner menu is a bit pricy.
Freddies
This is a great place to get some Italian beef or a little south side pizza (as in: not deep dish). My stomach is growling just thinking about it. This place has delicious food all up and down their oversized menu.
Lawrence's
One last place. This is well out of the neighborhood, but still worth the going. They have the best fried shrimp I've ever eaten in my whole life. And the management is super friendly. Dude heard I'd never tried the shrimp, so he came back with a brown paper bag stuffed with some free shrimp. One time, during a ~10 mile jog, I stopped by Lawrence's and loaded up my backpack with shrimp and then jogged the remaining 2 miles home. The shrimp was still warm. And delicious.
