The Rays Tank: Bouncing Back

New, 38 comments

After getting shutout for the eleventh time this season on Wednesday, the Rays bounced back and turned the tables as they shutout the Astros 5-0.

Chris Archer’s pitching was outstanding, Kiermaier and Longo went back-to-back in the seventh, and the Rays were not the ones being shut out last night. Kiermaier also made another pretty stellar catch in right field last night and there’s no denying that he’s been one of the few bright spots on the team this year.

The Rays couldn’t have asked for a better bunt from Ryan Hanigan last night that scored Brandon Guyer from third base to put Tampa Bay up 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning. Picture courtesy of Will Vragovic of the Tampa Bay Times.

Have you ever seen a ball get hit back into a pitching machine? Matt Joyce made that happen during BP yesterday.

David DeJesus was placed on the DL yesterday with an avulsion fracture of his left ring finger. Basically, the ligament attached to his finger was pulled loose from the bone. Ouch. DeJesus will be in a splint for the next three weeks before his is reevaluated.

Rays on the Runway is next Wednesday, so two of the Rays girlfriends stopped by WTSP 10 News to do some promoting. Tickets are $125 each for the event.
