GDT: HAPPY JULY 6TH!!!

New, comments

IT'S JULY 6TH! WE NEED TO CELEBRATE LIKE RIGHT. NOW.

Eileen Blass-USA TODAY Sports

Oh my gosh it's JULY 6TH IT'S LIKE MY FAVORITE DAY OF THE YEAR

Let's just straight up list the incredible things that've happened on this day in history

1560- The Treaty of Edinburgh is agreed upon by Scotland and England. Oh wow this is like the ballinest treaty in England's long and storied history of treaties the Treaty of Versailles ain't got nothin' on this one

1785- The USA officially adopts the dollar as its official currency. Up until this point Americans had basically been using gold bricks and high-fives as money but this change in policy set the stage for fat American stacks, yo

1957- John Lennon and Paul McCartney meet for the first time and go on to do nothing of major import.

2009- Robert McNamara dies. This one is pretty sad, actually. He was an incredibly interesting player in the theater of the Cold War, one of the "coolest wars" (with all of the shortsightedness and crappy paradoxicality that phrase implies) of this millennium.
