The Rays now have 12 men on the Disabled List

17 in total injured from the Opening Day depth chart.

Another Rays player has gone on the Disabled List, once again making the month feel impossible. Lefty reliever C.J. Riefenhauser was throwing a few MPH slower after his promotion when Jeff Beliveau became injured, and has now eliminated the Rays left handed depth in the bullpen.

In total, the Rays now have 12 men on the Disabled List, and 17 injured in total. To put things in perspective, here is the comprehensive list of the sidelined players.

Men on a disabled list are marked in bold, players sidelined for any amount of time italicized.

Added to the 12 on the major league disabled list, and the 17 injured in total, are three players not on the roster for contractual reasons. Francisco is now playing in Japan, while relievers Balfour and Yates are in DFA limbo.

Replacing CJR on the roster could eventually be Jordan Norberto, the former Athletics reliever who suffered back-to-back Tommy John surgeries before joining the Rays on a minor league deal. Through five appearances, Norberto has 7.2 IP and 11 K's with 2 BB's and 5 Hits, allowing one run. That's good for a 1.17 ERA and 2.73 FIP.

In the meantime, the Rays have re-promoted outfielder Mikie Mahtook to give the bench another weapon on offense as the Rays look to claim their first series against the Red Sox.

Among the Rays soon to return, Drew Smyly is likely skipping his final rehab start to join the Rays on Friday against the Blue Jays, while James Loney is likely to re-join the team on Saturday from his oblique strain.
