After attending to a family emergency, I'll be back to posting daily. Hopefully nothing interesting happened over the past week, because as far as I'm concerned, nothing happened.
Note that Charlotte is beginning a series at Clearwater tonight. You have a great opportunity to see a strong roster. Brent Honeywell is also appearing on MiLB.TV again.
Triple-A Durham Bulls (19-12)
Enny Romero's return to Durham was smooth in the Bulls' 5-1 win over Syracuse. Only 46 of his 73 pitches were strikes, but he struck out four and walked just one over five three-hit, scoreless innings. Durham only collected five hits, but it made them count. Mikie Mahtook hit a two-run home run in the first inning, and Allan Dykstra followed with a solo shot an inning later. In the seventh, J.P. Arencibia added a run with his sixth homer of the season.
Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (14-16)
Bradin Hagens was roughed up in Montgomery's 10-4 loss to Birmingham. The Barons hammered four extra base hits off Hagens in a five-run first inning, and that proved to be the only offense they needed. Richie Shaffer hit an RBI double in the bottom half of the first, but Birmingham added on against Hagens, who finished with seven runs allowed on 12 hits and a walk in five innings with a pair of strikeouts.
Class A-Advanced Charlotte Stone Crabs (20-10)
Charlotte was off.
Class A Bowling Green Hot Rods (19-11)
Bowling Green was off.
