After 40 long, grueling rounds, the 2015 major league baseball draft has finally concluded after 1,215 players had been selected. The Rays ended up selecting 28 college players, and 12 from high schools across the country. Among them were 4 catchers, 8 infielders, 10 outfielders, and 18 pitchers. So, let's take a quick look at each player that was selected by the Rays.

1st Round - 13th Overall - Garrett Whitley

  • 18 year old outfielder out of Niskayuna High School in New York
  • Ranked as the 7th best prospect heading into the draft and 2nd overall outfielder by Baseball America
  • Maintained a 3.84 GPA, and signed a national letter of intent to play at Wake Forest University, just like a former top high school pick the Rays selected, Rocco Baldelli.

2nd Round - 52nd Overall - Chris Betts

  • 18 year old catcher out of Woodrow Wilson High School in California
  • Ranked as the 28th overall prospect heading into the draft and the 2nd overall catcher by Baseball America
  • Signed a national letter of intent to play at the University of Tennessee

3rd Round - 87th Overall - Brandon Lowe

  • 20 year old second baseman out of the University of Maryland
  • Has suffered two severe injuries, a torn ACL his freshman year and a broken fibula, during his time with Maryland
  • Ranked as the 2nd best second basemen in the draft by Baseball America

4th Round - 118th Overall - Brandon Koch

  • 21 year old relief pitcher out of Dallas Baptist University, alma mater of Ben Zobrist
  • Ranked as the 94th overall prospect heading into the draft by Baseball America
  • Set a new school record with a 15.9 K/9

5th Round - 148th Overall - Joe McCarthy

  • 21 year old outfielder out of the University of Virginia
  • Ranked as the 46th overall prospect heading into the draft by Baseball America
  • Missed the first half of the season due to having back surgery, sinking his value

6th Round - 178th Overall - Benton Moss

  • 22 year old starting pitcher out of University of North Carolina
  • Double majored in Business Administration and Economics
  • He went 7-1 this past season, with a 3.44 ERA in 68 innings pitched over 13 starts

7th Round - 208th Overall - Jake Cronenworth

  • 21 year old second baseman / reliever out of the University of Michigan
  • Ranked as the 194th best player in the draft by Baseball America, was also said to have the best splitter
  • Named the 2015 Big Ten Tournament MVP, as a result of him hitting .389 and recording 4 saves

  • 21 year old pitcher out of Santa Clara University
  • Started the season as a closer, but was converted into a starter mid-season.
  • Was 3-6 with a 2.82 ERA, in 60.2 innings pitched, along with recording five saves

9th Round - 268th Overall - Danny De La Calle

  • 23 year old catcher out of Florida State University
  • Threw out 32% of potential base stealers this season
  • Previously drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 33rd round of the 2013 draft

10th Round - 298th Overall - Sam Triece

  • 24 year old pitcher out of Washington State University
  • Was 5-0 with a 2.66 ERA in 50+ innings this past season
  • Averaged 10.5 SO/9

11th Round -  328th Overall - Ian Gibaut

  • 22 year old pitcher out Tulane University, alma mater of Brandon Gomes
  • MLB.com had him ranked as the 130th best player in the draft
  • Probably would have been a higher pick, but an injury lowered his stock

12th Round - 358th Overall - David Olmedo-Barrera

  • 21 year old outfielder out of Cal-State Fullerton
  • Hit a game winning HR to clinch a berth for his team to the College World Series, as part of a two HR day.
  • Was previously drafted by Oakland Athletics in the 40th round of the 2012 draft

13th Round - 388th Overall - Nicholas Padilla

  • 18 year old pitcher out of Grayson County College
  • Allowed five runs in 23 innings this past season

14th Round - 418th Overall - Tyler Brashears

  • 21 year old pitcher out of the University of Hawaii
  • Rays 5th ever pick out of Hawaii
  • Was 8-5 with a 1.86 ERA with over 100 innings pitched this last season

15th Round - 448th Overall - Ethan Clark

  • 20 year old pitcher out of Crowder College
  • Was 5-2 with a 4.04 ERA this past season
  • 6'6" tall

16th Round - 478th Overall - Joe Davis

  • 18 year old catcher out of Bowie High School in Texas
  • Committed to the University of Houston
  • Led the state of Texas in homeruns as Junior, and he also won the Home Run Derby at the Area Code Games

17th Round - 508th Overall - Brett Sullivan

  • 21 year old second baseman out of the University of Pacific
  • Last year became the first player in the university's history to hit for the cycle
  • His brother, Tyler, was taken just a few rounds earlier by the White Sox

18th Round - 538th Overall - Landon Cray

  • 21 year old outfielder out of Seattle University
  • Nephew of inaugural Devil Rays player Paul Sorrento
  • First draft pick out of Seattle University since 1980

19th Round - 568th Overall - Porter Clayton

  • 22 year old pitcher out of Dixie State University
  • Was 5-5 with a 5.20 ERA in 71 innings pitched this past season
  • Was previously drafted by the New York Yankees in the 21st round of the 2014 draft

20th Round - 598th Overall - Edrick Agosto

  • 18 year old pitcher out of the International Baseball Academy in Celba, Puerto Rico
  • Committed to Alabama State
  • Previously drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 18th round of the 2014 draft

21st Round - 628th Overall - Matt Dacey

  • 21 year old third baseman out of the University of Richmond
  • Had 17 HR this past season
  • Third player in league history to hit 10 HR in three consecutive seasons

22nd Round - 658th Overall - Justin Marsden

  • 18 year old pitcher out of Mountainview High School in Washington
  • Baseball America ranked him as the 222nd best player in the draft. His curve ball also produced the highest spin rate ever at the Arizona Senior Fall Classic
  • Committed to Seattle University

23rd Round - 688th Overall - Reign Letkeman

  • 20 year old pitcher out of Big Bend Community College
  • Was 3-0 with a 1.59 ERA in 34 innings pitched this past season, also had 44 SO compared to 9 BB

24th Round - 718th Overall - Jesus Ortiz
