The power of the day came from Montgomery, specifically Johnny Field. His career high in home runs is 12, and he's closing in quickly.
Triple-A Durham Bulls (38-27)
Richie Shaffer's two-out single in the sixth was the difference in Durham's 3-2 win over Louisville. Down 2-1, the Bats conceded a run on J.P. Arencibia's groundout. After Allan Dykstra grounded out to move Mikie Mahtook to third, Shaffer brought him in for the go-ahead run. Scott Diamond limited the damage to one inning and finished with two runs allowed on six hits and two walks in 5 1/3 innings before three Bulls relievers combined to hold Louisville scoreless over the rest of the game.
Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (33-30)
Montgomery bashed three home runs in its 5-2 win over Pensacola. Johnny Field's two-run shot in the first gave the Biscuits a 2-0 lead, and a half inning after the Blue Wahoos pulled a run closer, Justin O'Conner's solo home run got that run back. In the seventh, Field went deep again, driving in two more runs with his 10th home run of the season. Jaime Schultz seemed to pitch the way he has all season, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks in five innings with seven strikeouts.
Class A-Advanced Charlotte Stone Crabs (43-20)
Charlotte buried Jupiter with a seven-run second inning in its 9-2 win over the Hammerheads. Already up 1-0, Braxton Lee and Kean Wong had bases loaded hits to put the Stone Crabs up 3-0. When the bases were loaded again, Lee scored on a balk, Wong scored on a Jake Bauers groundout, and Pat Blair and Maxx Tissenbaum had two-out hits to score runs. With the early run support, Taylor Guerrieri was solid, allowing just a run on six hits in four innings. Isaac Gil got the win with a run allowed in two innings, and Josh Kimborowicz struck out three in three scoreless innings.
Class A Bowling Green Hot Rods (37-26)
After losing a 6-2 lead, Hunter Lockwood's three-run homer put Bowling Green back on top in its 10-6 win over Wisconsin. With two outs, Lockwood's third home run of the season put the Hot Rods up 9-6, and Jace Conrad doubled in an insurance run in the eighth. Hyrum Formo allowed six runs in 5 2/3 innings, but Damion Carroll was strong in relief, striking out three in 2 1/3 innings.
