Rays down on the farm June 3: Montgomery makes debut for Seattle

At the time I wrote this and scheduled it to post, Mike Montgomery's line was incomplete, so you can go look for it elsewhere

Mike Montgomery, of course, was acquired in the James Shields trade, stunk one season, got off to a good start in 2014 before collapsing and was traded to Seattle at the end of spring training for Erasmo Ramirez.

In current Rays news, Bowling Green utility player Coty Blanchard was suspended 50 games, and Tuesday was Ryan Brett's second career game in center field.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (30-23)

Dylan Floro and Enny Romero combined to shut down Charlotte in Durham's 2-1 win over the Knights. Floro allowed Charlotte to score first, but he finished with seven strikeouts on six hits and no walks in six innings. In relief, Romero earned his first career save with four strikeouts and only two hits and a walk allowed in three innings. The Knights' lead did not last long. Just three batters into Durham's half of the fourth, Eugenio Velez singled home Ryan Brett, and he scored himself on J.P. Arencibia's single.

Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (24-27)

Jacksonville broke open a pitchers' duel late in Montgomery's 4-1 loss to the Suns. After Jared Mortensen struck out seven and scattered five hits over six scoreless innings, the Suns scored a pair against both Bradin Hagens and Bryce Stowell. The Biscuits got their only run of the game on Justin O'Conner's double in the ninth, but Joey Rickard grounded out to end the game as the potential tying run.

Class A-Advanced Charlotte Stone Crabs (34-17)

Charlotte was postponed.

Class A Bowling Green Hot Rods (28-24)

Bowling Green was off.
