Yesterday, Nathan Karns took matters into his own hands as he was responsible for the lone run of the game as he lifted a solo HR (despite being sick for the duration that he was in the game). Maybe Kevin Cash should start batting Karns when he starts the game, apparently the only run support he can get, is by his own hand.
Today, the Rays will play a day game before taking off tomorrow and flying back to St. Pete to begin a three game series with the Orioles.
Going to the hill today for Tampa Bay will be Jake Odorizzi and opposing him will be Adam Morgan.
So far this year, Odorizzi is 5-6 with a 2.80 ERA and a 3.38 FIP to go along with a 19.6 K% and a 6.5 BB%. He'll be making his third start back since his return from the DL. His last time out was less than glorious as he tied a career high with five walks and allowed six runs in just over four innings on the mound versus the Blue Jays, although five of those runs can be attributed to two homers.
His opponent, Adam Morgan, has only made four appearances so far his major league career (all four have come this season). So far he is 1-2 with a 3.91 ERA and a 5.76 FIP with a 15.8 K% and a 8.4 BB% over the course of 23 innings on a big league mound.
